Glorifying God Every Day

For what amazing gifts of grace should Christians most glorify God? To a young congregation of believers at Ephesus the Apostle Paul exuberantly offered the following reasons to exalt and admire the living and true God.

1.     He is “the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” whom he sent to be our Redeemer—that’s a great place to begin praising the Lord (1:3a).
2.     Give glory to God for sovereign election and predestination; had he not chosen us, none of us would ever have chosen him (1:3-6).
3.     Praise the Father’s eternal Son who “became flesh” so that he might be our Redeemer; our redemption is through his blood of the covenant, lovingly shed for many (1:7-12).
4.     Give praise to the Holy Spirit sent to us from the Father and the Son. He indwells and seals every born again person, placing his indelible mark of ownership upon us (1:13-14).

Do we give thanks for other things like food, clothing, shelter, and other such things that our loving Lord God provides? Absolutely; truly, there are no small favors from his hand. But let us be sure we are mostly praising God for the spiritual realities that will matter for time and eternity. Praise the Lord God Almighty who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; praise him for his "so great salvation"! –TSA
